BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Check the altitude before you book the flight
Leh is at 3,500 m and you arrive there by aeroplane in an hour from sea level, which is the fastest ascent most people will ever make. Two full days doing nothing on arrival is the standard advice and it is not optional because you are on holiday rather than a trek.
A holiday itinerary still has hard days in it
Pass crossings by road, long transfers and early starts are normal on these trips. Read the day plan rather than the brochure photograph.
Ask what the group size actually is
A group holiday is priced on filling a coach. It is a fair question and the answer changes the trip completely.
The places you pass through are lived in
Ask before photographing people and houses, take your shoes off where others do, and buy locally where you can. A holiday moves through more communities in a week than a trek does.

Well paced over 7 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Would send friends their way.

Too much time on the coach and not enough at the places we'd come for. Guides answered every question, including the daft ones.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Lodges along the way were simple and comfortable enough after a long day. Crew were professional without being stiff about it. Solid operator.

Well paced over 7 days with enough free time to not feel herded. The teahouses were warm and the beds were fine after eight hours walking. Worth every rupee.

Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.

Questions people ask

Manali to Kaza crosses Kunzum La at 4,590 m on day one from 2,050 m. The Kinnaur road takes four days to reach the same height. It is a longer trip and a far safer one, and it is why this itinerary runs one way.
