BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
A campsite is not a hotel with canvas
Shared washrooms, no room service and lights out with the generator. Read what the operator provides and assume everything else is yours to bring.
Ask what the ground is
A pitch on grass, on sand and on a river bank sleep completely differently, and it decides whether your own mat is enough.
Weather is the whole experience
There is no lobby to retreat into. A wet weekend under canvas is still a wet weekend, so check the forecast and pack for the worse half of it.
Fires and rubbish are regulated
Most campsites sit inside a forest division or panchayat land with rules about both. Carry your waste out; the operator will tell you where fires are allowed.

Early starts, but that's where the wildlife is. Well run. Every night's lodge was a step up from what I'd braced for. Crew were professional without being stiff about it. Solid operator.

Questions people ask

The Thar runs past 45 °C from April to September and the dunes are unusable in daylight. The season here is genuinely October to March.
