Two or three hours mostly on your feet on hard ground. Comfortable shoes matter more than fitness.

Markets, lanes and places of worship are where people live and pray. Ask before photographing anyone and cover up where others do.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. The lead was calm and knew when to slow the group down. Would book with them again.

Andes & Caribbean done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says. Guides answered every question, including the daft ones. Would book with them again.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. Food was plentiful and hot, which counts for a lot at altitude. Solid operator.

On this route, yes, with ordinary city precautions — no phones out at night, registered taxis or apps, nothing flashy. Colombia's reputation lags its reality by about fifteen years, and the parts that remain genuinely risky are nowhere near anything on this itinerary.
