BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Distances are short, the standing is long
Two or three hours mostly on your feet on hard ground. Comfortable shoes matter more than fitness.
The route is public space
Markets, lanes and places of worship are where people live and pray. Ask before photographing anyone and cover up where others do.
Cash for the small things
Tea, a fritter, an entry ticket. Card acceptance in old quarters is patchy at best.
Ask what the group size will be
A walking tour of six and one of thirty are different products at the same price. It is a fair question.

Central Iran done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Worth every rupee.

Too much time on the coach and not enough at the places we'd come for. The lead was calm and knew when to slow the group down.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. The team read the group well and adjusted without making a thing of it. Solid operator.

Well paced over 9 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. Food was plentiful and hot, which counts for a lot at altitude. Recommended.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says. The lead was calm and knew when to slow the group down. Would book with them again.

Questions people ask

In cash, in advance. International cards do not work anywhere in Iran — not at ATMs, hotels or shops — because of sanctions on the banking system. You bring euros or dollars in cash and change them, or load a local tourist debit card on arrival. Both operators brief this on day one because people arrive unaware of it and it is the single most common problem.
