BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Check the altitude before you book the flight
Leh is at 3,500 m and you arrive there by aeroplane in an hour from sea level, which is the fastest ascent most people will ever make. Two full days doing nothing on arrival is the standard advice and it is not optional because you are on holiday rather than a trek.
A holiday itinerary still has hard days in it
Pass crossings by road, long transfers and early starts are normal on these trips. Read the day plan rather than the brochure photograph.
Ask what the group size actually is
A group holiday is priced on filling a coach. It is a fair question and the answer changes the trip completely.
The places you pass through are lived in
Ask before photographing people and houses, take your shoes off where others do, and buy locally where you can. A holiday moves through more communities in a week than a trek does.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says. The lead was calm and knew when to slow the group down. Solid operator.

Well paced over 7 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. Meals were good throughout and the vegetarian options weren't an afterthought.

Well paced over 7 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. Never went hungry, and the tea appeared exactly when it was needed. Would send friends their way.

Questions people ask

June to August is heavy and most of the outdoor sights are washed out, but it is the traditional season for Ayurvedic treatment and prices halve. This itinerary runs outside it.
