You fly at dawn or not at all
Ballooning needs still air, and still air is a couple of hours after sunrise. An afternoon slot does not exist, and a flight that is cancelled for wind was cancelled correctly.
The landing is the part to listen about
A basket can land upright or it can tip and drag. Face the direction you are told, hold the handles inside the basket rather than the rim, and keep your knees bent until it stops moving.
Flat shoes, nothing loose
You climb into and out of a basket over its side. Hats, scarves and open shoes all end up in a field.
It is colder up there and hotter under the burner
A layer you can take off, and be aware the burner directly overhead is genuinely fierce for a few seconds at a time.

Worth it for the view alone. Everything ran to time. Accommodation was a notch better than the price suggested. The cooking was a genuine surprise — better than most places we'd have picked ourselves. Recommended.
