BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Learn the wet exit before anything else
Getting out of a capsized boat calmly is the one skill the whole day rests on, and it takes ten minutes to learn.
Dress for the water, not the air
You will be wet. A warm afternoon over cold water is still cold water.
Wind matters more than distance
A flat crossing into a headwind is harder than twice that with it behind you. The guide's route will change with the forecast.
Sunburn comes off the water too
Reflected light gets the underside of your chin and your forearms. Long sleeves beat reapplying.

Kit was in good condition, which matters more than people realise. Hotels were clean and central, which saved a lot of time. Plenty to eat and they were happy to work around a gluten allergy. No hesitation recommending them.

Conditions were poor for two of the days, which nobody can control, but the schedule wasn't adjusted. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing.

Boat was crowded. Fine for the diving, less fine for the surface intervals. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing.

Instruction was patient — I came in nervous and finished wanting to book the next level. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing. No hesitation recommending them.

Great few days in the water. Briefings were clear and nobody was pushed beyond their level. Accommodation was a notch better than the price suggested. No hesitation recommending them.

Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.

Questions people ask

No. It needs a dark night and reasonable plankton, and both operators schedule the night paddle within a few days of the new moon to give it the best chance. Cloud helps, a bright moon kills it. Nobody can promise it and neither operator does.
