Two or three hours mostly on your feet on hard ground. Comfortable shoes matter more than fitness.

Markets, lanes and places of worship are where people live and pray. Ask before photographing anyone and cover up where others do.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. The teahouses were warm and the beds were fine after eight hours walking. Never went hungry, and the tea appeared exactly when it was needed. Would book with them again.

They are memorials, and Ghanaian guides present them as such — the dungeons, the conditions and the door of no return. For many visitors, particularly of African descent, it is the reason for the trip. It is a difficult two hours in each and the schedule allows for it.
