BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Check the altitude before you book the flight
Leh is at 3,500 m and you arrive there by aeroplane in an hour from sea level, which is the fastest ascent most people will ever make. Two full days doing nothing on arrival is the standard advice and it is not optional because you are on holiday rather than a trek.
A holiday itinerary still has hard days in it
Pass crossings by road, long transfers and early starts are normal on these trips. Read the day plan rather than the brochure photograph.
Ask what the group size actually is
A group holiday is priced on filling a coach. It is a fair question and the answer changes the trip completely.
The places you pass through are lived in
Ask before photographing people and houses, take your shoes off where others do, and buy locally where you can. A holiday moves through more communities in a week than a trek does.

Hotels were a step below what I expected for the price.

Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.

France done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Hotels were clean and central, which saved a lot of time. Crew were professional without being stiff about it. Solid operator.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Rooms were comfortable and the locations meant we could walk most evenings. The team read the group well and adjusted without making a thing of it. Solid operator.

Well paced over 10 days with enough free time to not feel herded. No complaints about any of the hotels — all of them well placed. Meals were good throughout and the vegetarian options weren't an afterthought. Would send friends their way.

Questions people ask

Yes — France, Switzerland and Italy are all in Schengen, so a single multi-entry visa covers the whole route. Apply at the consulate of the country you spend the most nights in, which here is Italy. Appointment waits are the longest part of planning this trip.
