Check the altitude before you book the flight
Leh is at 3,500 m and you arrive there by aeroplane in an hour from sea level, which is the fastest ascent most people will ever make. Two full days doing nothing on arrival is the standard advice and it is not optional because you are on holiday rather than a trek.

Sri Lanka done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Accommodation was a notch better than the price suggested. Plenty to eat and they were happy to work around a gluten allergy.
