BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Dive within your certification
A card states a depth and a set of conditions. Going beyond either on holiday, with an instructor who has known you for an hour, is how divers get hurt.
Never hold your breath
The first rule of breathing compressed air, and the one that kills people who forget it. Breathe continuously on every ascent.
No flying for at least eighteen hours
After multiple dives, longer. Book the flight home with a clear day in between, not the same evening.
Touch nothing
Coral takes decades to grow and breaks in a moment, and a great deal of what looks inert is alive. Buoyancy control is not just a skill, it is how you avoid destroying what you came to see.

Great few days in the water. Briefings were clear and nobody was pushed beyond their level. Accommodation was a notch better than the price suggested. Simple food, well made, and enough of it. Would send friends their way.

Kit was in good condition, which matters more than people realise. Good value for what's included.

Instruction was patient — I came in nervous and finished wanting to book the next level. Meals were good throughout and the vegetarian options weren't an afterthought.

Conditions were poor for two of the days, which nobody can control, but the schedule wasn't adjusted. Guides answered every question, including the daft ones.

Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.

Kit was in good condition, which matters more than people realise. The lead was calm and knew when to slow the group down. Would book with them again.

Great few days in the water. Briefings were clear and nobody was pushed beyond their level. No complaints about any of the hotels — all of them well placed. Plenty to eat and they were happy to work around a gluten allergy. Recommended.

Questions people ask

The east coast has an enormous tidal range — the sea goes out roughly a kilometre twice a day, leaving a flat. It is why Paje is a kitesurfing centre and why Nungwi in the north, where the tide barely moves, is where people swim.
