BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Distances are short, the standing is long
Two or three hours mostly on your feet on hard ground. Comfortable shoes matter more than fitness.
The route is public space
Markets, lanes and places of worship are where people live and pray. Ask before photographing anyone and cover up where others do.
Cash for the small things
Tea, a fritter, an entry ticket. Card acceptance in old quarters is patchy at best.
Ask what the group size will be
A walking tour of six and one of thirty are different products at the same price. It is a fair question.

Central and southern Mexico done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Worth every rupee.

Hotels were a step below what I expected for the price. Crew were professional without being stiff about it.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Would send friends their way.

Central and southern Mexico done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. The lead was calm and knew when to slow the group down. Recommended.

Central and southern Mexico done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says. The team read the group well and adjusted without making a thing of it. Worth every rupee.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says. Plenty to eat and they were happy to work around a gluten allergy. No hesitation recommending them.

Central and southern Mexico done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says. Simple food, well made, and enough of it. Would send friends their way.

Questions people ask

No. The site sits on communal land and has been closed by the community more than once, sometimes for months, in disputes about who administers it and collects the fee. Both operators check the week before and substitute the Tlacolula market when it is shut.
