BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Check the altitude before you book the flight
Leh is at 3,500 m and you arrive there by aeroplane in an hour from sea level, which is the fastest ascent most people will ever make. Two full days doing nothing on arrival is the standard advice and it is not optional because you are on holiday rather than a trek.
A holiday itinerary still has hard days in it
Pass crossings by road, long transfers and early starts are normal on these trips. Read the day plan rather than the brochure photograph.
Ask what the group size actually is
A group holiday is priced on filling a coach. It is a fair question and the answer changes the trip completely.
The places you pass through are lived in
Ask before photographing people and houses, take your shoes off where others do, and buy locally where you can. A holiday moves through more communities in a week than a trek does.

Well paced over 7 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Rooms were comfortable and the locations meant we could walk most evenings. Guides answered every question, including the daft ones. Worth every rupee.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Hotels were clean and central, which saved a lot of time. Would book with them again.

Too much time on the coach and not enough at the places we'd come for. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing.

Thanks for writing this up. We've passed your note to the team.

Rome to Venice done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. No complaints about any of the hotels — all of them well placed. Would send friends their way.

Hotels were a step below what I expected for the price. The team read the group well and adjusted without making a thing of it.

Reply from Cypress & Stone

Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.

Rome to Venice done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Accommodation was a notch better than the price suggested. The lead was calm and knew when to slow the group down. No hesitation recommending them.

Questions people ask

Yes, and it is the main thing an operator adds here. The Colosseum, the Vatican Museums, the Uffizi and the Duomo cupola are all timed, and all four sell out days to weeks ahead between April and October.
