Seven days at altitude, ending on the salt. The same route on joiner 4x4s and in basic refuges, with the Yungas descent as a paid add-on.
El Alto airport is at 4,061 m — higher than anything in the Alps. The first day is for sitting still and drinking water.

The old Yungas road killed enough people to earn its name; traffic now uses the new road, and the old one is a gravel descent from 4,650 m to 1,200 m. It is still a cliff with no railing.

The sleeper bus is a full-recline berth and it saves a day. It is also cold — the altiplano at night is well below zero.

14 meal services named in the itinerary. Vegetarian and vegan covered everywhere; Jain and gluten-free on notice at booking
Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. Simple food, well made, and enough of it. Would send friends their way.
Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. Recommended.
Glad you enjoyed it. Hope to see you on another trip.
