Eight days east — limestone pools, a river gorge and the Caribbean coast, none of which the Acatenango trip goes near.

“Latin America by public bus, the way most people actually do it”
Overland routes on scheduled buses and public ferries. Slower, cheaper, and closer to how the continent moves.
Second trek with this operator and they've kept the standard up. The campsites were well chosen — sheltered, and close enough to water. Good value for what's included.
Did this over 8 days and it was the best walking I've done in years. The campsites were well chosen — sheltered, and close enough to water. No hesitation recommending them.
Long transfer at both ends that isn't obvious from the listing. Budget a day either side. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing.
Thanks for writing this up. We've passed your note to the team.
Did this over 8 days and it was the best walking I've done in years. Tents were warmer than expected and the camp was set up before we arrived. The team read the group well and adjusted without making a thing of it. Worth every rupee.
Well organised from the pickup onwards. The daily distances were honest about what they'd be.
Well organised from the pickup onwards. The daily distances were honest about what they'd be. Camp was pitched and the kitchen going by the time we walked in each evening. Never went hungry, and the tea appeared exactly when it was needed.
The trek itself is good but the group was too large for the trail on the summit day.

Genuinely rough — the last stretch is unpaved, steep and slow, and it is done in a 4x4 or the back of a pickup. Two and a half hours to cover not very much. Everyone arrives shaken and it is part of why Semuc is not overrun.
