Ten days over the Abano pass and up to the highest village in Europe. Six days on the Kazbegi and Svaneti side only, without the Abano pass or Tusheti.
Ten days across the Georgian Caucasus — two of the hardest mountain roads in Europe, and villages with defensive towers still standing in them.

Abanotubani
Narikala
The Military Highway has been the route across the Caucasus for two thousand years and the last of it climbs to 2,379 m at Jvari.
LANDMARKS
---
Jvari Pass
Ananuri
Gergeti Trinity
Kazbek
The track up to Gergeti is steep, loose and short. In poor weather the operators put the bikes away and walk it.

Mount Kazbek
Ananuri
The Abano road is single-track dirt with no barrier and a long drop, open roughly June to September. It has a reputation and it has earned it.
LANDMARKS
---
Abano Pass
Tusheti
Omalo
Keselo towers
Tusheti empties every winter — the pass closes and almost everyone moves down to the lowlands with the sheep until June.
LANDMARKS
---
Dartlo
Shenako
Keselo
Tush towers
The pass is single-track — going early means meeting fewer vehicles on it, and meeting one is the problem.
LANDMARKS
---
Abano Pass
Alazani valley
Imereti
The Enguri dam is 271 m and was the tallest arch dam in the world when it was finished. The road past it is sealed now, which it was not a decade ago.

Enguri dam
Svaneti
Mestia
Koruldi
Ushguli is at 2,100 m, is inhabited year-round, and claims to be the highest permanently settled village in Europe. Shkhara at 5,193 m is behind it.
LANDMARKS
---
Ushguli
Shkhara
Svan towers
Lamaria church
A long day, and the last of it is motorway, which after Ushguli feels absurd.
Tbilisi flies across Europe and the Gulf, mostly at unpleasant hours.

Machines were well maintained and the daily briefings were short and useful. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. Simple food, well made, and enough of it. Worth every rupee.
10 days of proper riding. The support vehicle was never far when someone needed it. Would send friends their way.

Route planning was the strong point — long days, but the stops were in the right places. Good value for what's included.
Thank you for travelling with us — glad the route worked out.

Kazbegi on two wheels is the way to see it. No complaints about the organisation. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. Crew were professional without being stiff about it.
