BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
This is a technical climb, not a hard walk
Roped glacier travel, crampons and an ice axe you can actually use. If you have not been taught crevasse rescue, you are relying entirely on somebody who has.
Check what your insurance excludes
Most travel policies stop covering you above a stated altitude or exclude mountaineering by name. A helicopter off a Himalayan peak is the traveller's bill, and it is a large one.
The summit is optional and the weather decides
Turnaround times exist to be obeyed, and a team that has paid a great deal of money is exactly the team most likely to ignore one. Agree the turnaround before the summit night, not on it.
Acclimatise on the schedule you were given
At these heights the difference between the published rotation and a faster one is not toughness, it is pulmonary oedema.

Well organised from the pickup onwards. The daily distances were honest about what they'd be. Rooms were basic in the best way — dry, warm, and right where we needed them. Crew were professional without being stiff about it. Recommended.

Did this over 6 days and it was the best walking I've done in years. No hesitation recommending them.

The route is beautiful and the pacing was sensible — nobody was rushed on the climb. The teahouses were warm and the beds were fine after eight hours walking. Guides answered every question, including the daft ones. Worth every rupee.

Questions people ask

Not for the comfort version — that is what day three is for. You do need to be a strong trekker: this is a 5,289 m summit with a seventeen-hour day at the end of it.
