BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Distances are short, the standing is long
Two or three hours mostly on your feet on hard ground. Comfortable shoes matter more than fitness.
The route is public space
Markets, lanes and places of worship are where people live and pray. Ask before photographing anyone and cover up where others do.
Cash for the small things
Tea, a fritter, an entry ticket. Card acceptance in old quarters is patchy at best.
Ask what the group size will be
A walking tour of six and one of thirty are different products at the same price. It is a fair question.

Too much time on the coach and not enough at the places we'd come for. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing.

Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. Food was plentiful and hot, which counts for a lot at altitude. Would send friends their way.

Mazovia and Pomerania done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. No hesitation recommending them.

Well paced over 7 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. Food was plentiful and hot, which counts for a lot at altitude. No hesitation recommending them.

Questions people ask

It is a reconstruction, and openly so. The Germans destroyed some eighty-five percent of the city after the 1944 Rising, and Poles rebuilt the old town through the fifties using surviving plans and Canaletto's eighteenth-century paintings. UNESCO listed it precisely as an example of reconstruction, not as a surviving medieval town.
