The Greek colonists divided this plain into rectangular plots in 384 BC and the same stone walls still mark them. It is the best-preserved ancient land division in the Mediterranean.

Vis was a Yugoslav naval base and closed to foreigners until 1989, which is why it has almost no resort development.

The cave is lit from below through a submerged opening and it only works between about eleven and noon on a calm, sunny day. Boats are ticketed and queued.

The streets are laid out at angles on the east side to catch the breeze and straight on the west to block the wind. It was designed that way in the fourteenth century.

Central Dalmatia done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Worth every rupee.

Well paced over 8 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Hotels were clean and central, which saved a lot of time. Guides answered every question, including the daft ones. Good value for what's included.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found.
Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. No complaints about any of the hotels — all of them well placed. The team read the group well and adjusted without making a thing of it. Good value for what's included.
Because the ferries sell out, Hvar town is genuinely unpleasant with the crowds, and prices roughly double. May, June, September and October have warm sea, running ferries and a fraction of the people.
