A card states a depth and a set of conditions. Going beyond either on holiday, with an instructor who has known you for an hour, is how divers get hurt.
Never hold your breath
The first rule of breathing compressed air, and the one that kills people who forget it. Breathe continuously on every ascent.
No flying for at least eighteen hours
After multiple dives, longer. Book the flight home with a clear day in between, not the same evening.
Touch nothing
Coral takes decades to grow and breaks in a moment, and a great deal of what looks inert is alive. Buoyancy control is not just a skill, it is how you avoid destroying what you came to see.

Instruction was patient — I came in nervous and finished wanting to book the next level. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing. Solid operator.
