Check the altitude before you book the flight
Leh is at 3,500 m and you arrive there by aeroplane in an hour from sea level, which is the fastest ascent most people will ever make. Two full days doing nothing on arrival is the standard advice and it is not optional because you are on holiday rather than a trek.

Pass crossings by road, long transfers and early starts are normal on these trips. Read the day plan rather than the brochure photograph.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Hotels were clean and central, which saved a lot of time. Never went hungry, and the tea appeared exactly when it was needed.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Rooms were comfortable and the locations meant we could walk most evenings. Plenty to eat and they were happy to work around a gluten allergy. No hesitation recommending them.

Well paced over 5 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Rooms were comfortable and the locations meant we could walk most evenings. Food was plentiful and hot, which counts for a lot at altitude.
