Top Highlights

  • Hoan KiemThe sleeper bus is a berth, not a seat, and it saves a whole day of the trip.
  • Quan Ba heaven gateThe Dong Van karst plateau is a UNESCO geopark and the road through it was cut by hand in the 1960s.
  • Ma Pi Leng PassMa Pi Leng sits 800 metres above a jade-green river in a gorge, and the boat at the bottom is worth the descent.
  • Muong Hoa valleyThe guides here are Hmong and Dao women from the villages you walk to, which is the reason to take one.
  • Lao Chai
  • Ha Long BaySleeping on the water in Lan Ha, the quieter arm next to Ha Long, is what makes the bay worth it.
  • Lan Ha BayThe day boats arrive from Ha Long around nine.
  • Floating villagesEverything before that is quiet water.

Machines were well maintained and the daily briefings were short and useful. The cooking was a genuine surprise — better than most places we'd have picked ourselves. Would book with them again.

Ha Giang on two wheels is the way to see it. No complaints about the organisation. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. Crew were professional without being stiff about it.

7 days of proper riding. The support vehicle was never far when someone needed it. Would book with them again.

7 days of proper riding. The support vehicle was never far when someone needed it. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. Simple food, well made, and enough of it. Solid operator.

Route planning was the strong point — long days, but the stops were in the right places. Worth every rupee.
