Seven days and about 600 km through Kumaon, which is the quieter half of Uttarakhand and has the better views of the two.

Kausani looks straight at Trishul and Nanda Devi across about a hundred kilometres of air. Gandhi called the view worth the journey and stayed a fortnight.

Patal Bhuvaneshwar is a limestone cave you enter down a narrow chimney and crawl through in places. Anyone claustrophobic should say so at the entrance.

The road over Kalamuni is narrow, unfenced and sometimes blocked by slides. It is also where the Panchachuli massif comes into view all at once.

Panchachuli means five hearths, and the five peaks line up above the town in a way that looks arranged.

“The same rides for people bringing their own machine”
Support, route and permits for riders on their own bikes. No rentals, no pillion seats, and a hard line on riding experience at handover.
7 days of proper riding. The support vehicle was never far when someone needed it. The lead was calm and knew when to slow the group down. Recommended.
Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.
Route planning was the strong point — long days, but the stops were in the right places. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. Would book with them again.
One of the bikes had problems from day two and the spare took a while to arrive.
Thank you. We've taken the point about the transfer and are reviewing it.
Uttarakhand on two wheels is the way to see it. No complaints about the organisation. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. Recommended.
Machines were well maintained and the daily briefings were short and useful. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. Would send friends their way.
It is a fraction of the altitude and a fraction of the price, and the roads are narrower rather than rougher. Nothing here goes above 2,200 m, so there is no acclimatisation problem at all. What it shares with Ladakh is that the road to Munsiyari is single-lane, unfenced and occasionally blocked.
