Overnight trains, guesthouses and no private cars. Slower and a fraction of the price, and the trains are half the point.
Rajasthan done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says. Plenty to eat and they were happy to work around a gluten allergy. Recommended.

Too much time on the coach and not enough at the places we'd come for. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing.

Rajasthan runs past 45 °C from April and the forts are unshaded stone. The monsoon is brief and humid. October to March is the entire season and December is the busiest month of it.
