Ometepe is two volcanoes joined by an isthmus, in the only freshwater lake in the world with its own population of bull sharks.

“Latin America by public bus, the way most people actually do it”
Overland routes on scheduled buses and public ferries. Slower, cheaper, and closer to how the continent moves.
Second trek with this operator and they've kept the standard up.
Did this over 11 days and it was the best walking I've done in years. Food was plentiful and hot, which counts for a lot at altitude. No hesitation recommending them.
Glad you enjoyed it. Hope to see you on another trip.
Central America in the right season is something else, and the team knew exactly where to camp. Recommended.
Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.
Well organised from the pickup onwards. The daily distances were honest about what they'd be. Worth every rupee.

The route is beautiful and the pacing was sensible — nobody was rushed on the climb. Camp was pitched and the kitchen going by the time we walked in each evening. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing. Good value for what's included.

Second trek with this operator and they've kept the standard up. Tents were warmer than expected and the camp was set up before we arrived. Plenty to eat and they were happy to work around a gluten allergy. Recommended.
Check your government's current advisory rather than taking a general answer — the political situation has been unstable since 2018 and advisories have changed more than once. Tourist areas have generally stayed calm and both operators run the route continuously, but they will also cancel and refund a departure rather than run it through unrest, and have done.
