The road stops at Chitkul because the border does. It is a real village, not a viewpoint, and the Baspa runs green through it.

“The same routes by train and guesthouse”
Overnight trains, guesthouses and no private cars. Slower and a fraction of the price, and the trains are half the point.
Well paced over 7 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. The cooking was a genuine surprise — better than most places we'd have picked ourselves. Would send friends their way.
Glad you enjoyed it. Hope to see you on another trip.
Himachal Pradesh done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. Crew were professional without being stiff about it.
Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Would send friends their way.

Too much time on the coach and not enough at the places we'd come for.
Glad you enjoyed it. Hope to see you on another trip.
Manali to Kaza crosses Kunzum La at 4,590 m on day one from 2,050 m. The Kinnaur road takes four days to reach the same height. It is a longer trip and a far safer one, and it is why this itinerary runs one way.
