BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Check the altitude before you book the flight
Leh is at 3,500 m and you arrive there by aeroplane in an hour from sea level, which is the fastest ascent most people will ever make. Two full days doing nothing on arrival is the standard advice and it is not optional because you are on holiday rather than a trek.
A holiday itinerary still has hard days in it
Pass crossings by road, long transfers and early starts are normal on these trips. Read the day plan rather than the brochure photograph.
Ask what the group size actually is
A group holiday is priced on filling a coach. It is a fair question and the answer changes the trip completely.
The places you pass through are lived in
Ask before photographing people and houses, take your shoes off where others do, and buy locally where you can. A holiday moves through more communities in a week than a trek does.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Crew were professional without being stiff about it. Good value for what's included.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Dorms were tidy and the common areas were where the group actually gelled. The lead was calm and knew when to slow the group down. Recommended.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing. No hesitation recommending them.

Andes done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. Recommended.

Questions people ask

Very. Cusco is 3,399 m, Puno 3,812 m, La Paz 3,640 m and the lagoon circuit reaches 4,900 m. The itinerary flies to Cusco and then goes DOWN to the Sacred Valley to sleep, which is deliberate. Anyone who skips that is asking for trouble.
