Tamil Nadu done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Nothing fancy about the beds, and nothing wrong with them either. Meals were good throughout and the vegetarian options weren't an afterthought.

Well paced over 4 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing. Worth every rupee.

Questions people ask

Both are open to all visitors, but the inner sanctums at Meenakshi and Ramanathaswamy are restricted to Hindus. The corridors, halls and ceremonies are open to everyone and are most of what you come for.
