Check the altitude before you book the flight
Leh is at 3,500 m and you arrive there by aeroplane in an hour from sea level, which is the fastest ascent most people will ever make. Two full days doing nothing on arrival is the standard advice and it is not optional because you are on holiday rather than a trek.

Kanto & Kansai done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Hostel nights are basic but clean, and that's what the price says. Never went hungry, and the tea appeared exactly when it was needed. Solid operator.

On this route, no. One Tokyo–Kyoto shinkansen leg plus local trains comes to well under the seven-day pass price. It only pays off if you are doubling back or going further than Osaka.
