BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Check the altitude before you book the flight
Leh is at 3,500 m and you arrive there by aeroplane in an hour from sea level, which is the fastest ascent most people will ever make. Two full days doing nothing on arrival is the standard advice and it is not optional because you are on holiday rather than a trek.
A holiday itinerary still has hard days in it
Pass crossings by road, long transfers and early starts are normal on these trips. Read the day plan rather than the brochure photograph.
Ask what the group size actually is
A group holiday is priced on filling a coach. It is a fair question and the answer changes the trip completely.
The places you pass through are lived in
Ask before photographing people and houses, take your shoes off where others do, and buy locally where you can. A holiday moves through more communities in a week than a trek does.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Good value for what's included.

Well paced over 6 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Would send friends their way.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Food was plentiful and hot, which counts for a lot at altitude. Good value for what's included.

Arunachal Pradesh done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Rooms were comfortable and the locations meant we could walk most evenings. Crew were professional without being stiff about it. Worth every rupee.

Hotels were a step below what I expected for the price.

Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.

Questions people ask

Yes to Tawang with a Protected Area Permit — which needs a group of at least two and more lead time — but not to Bum La, which is closed to foreign passport holders entirely.
