BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Check the altitude before you book the flight
Leh is at 3,500 m and you arrive there by aeroplane in an hour from sea level, which is the fastest ascent most people will ever make. Two full days doing nothing on arrival is the standard advice and it is not optional because you are on holiday rather than a trek.
A holiday itinerary still has hard days in it
Pass crossings by road, long transfers and early starts are normal on these trips. Read the day plan rather than the brochure photograph.
Ask what the group size actually is
A group holiday is priced on filling a coach. It is a fair question and the answer changes the trip completely.
The places you pass through are lived in
Ask before photographing people and houses, take your shoes off where others do, and buy locally where you can. A holiday moves through more communities in a week than a trek does.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. The team read the group well and adjusted without making a thing of it. Recommended.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Lodges along the way were simple and comfortable enough after a long day. Would send friends their way.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Lodges along the way were simple and comfortable enough after a long day. Food was plentiful and hot, which counts for a lot at altitude. Would book with them again.

Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Rooms were basic in the best way — dry, warm, and right where we needed them. Never went hungry, and the tea appeared exactly when it was needed. Good value for what's included.

Questions people ask

June to August is heavy and most of the outdoor sights are washed out, but it is the traditional season for Ayurvedic treatment and prices halve. This itinerary runs outside it.
