Ten days across the Georgian Caucasus — two of the hardest mountain roads in Europe, and villages with defensive towers still standing in them.

Jvari Pass
Ananuri
Gergeti Trinity
Kazbek
The track up to Gergeti is steep, loose and short. In poor weather the operators put the bikes away and walk it.

The Abano road is single-track dirt with no barrier and a long drop, open roughly June to September. It has a reputation and it has earned it.
LANDMARKS
---
Abano Pass
Tusheti
Omalo
Keselo towers
Tusheti empties every winter — the pass closes and almost everyone moves down to the lowlands with the sheep until June.
LANDMARKS

The pass is single-track — going early means meeting fewer vehicles on it, and meeting one is the problem.

The Enguri dam is 271 m and was the tallest arch dam in the world when it was finished. The road past it is sealed now, which it was not a decade ago.

Ushguli is at 2,100 m, is inhabited year-round, and claims to be the highest permanently settled village in Europe. Shkhara at 5,193 m is behind it.

A long day, and the last of it is motorway, which after Ushguli feels absurd.
Tbilisi flies across Europe and the Gulf, mostly at unpleasant hours.

10 days of proper riding. The support vehicle was never far when someone needed it. Simple food, well made, and enough of it. Would send friends their way.
Machines were well maintained and the daily briefings were short and useful. Accommodation was a notch better than the price suggested. Guides answered every question, including the daft ones. Worth every rupee.
Thank you. We've taken the point about the transfer and are reviewing it.
Route planning was the strong point — long days, but the stops were in the right places. No complaints about any of the hotels — all of them well placed. Solid operator.
Glad you enjoyed it. Hope to see you on another trip.
10 days of proper riding. The support vehicle was never far when someone needed it. Hotels were clean and central, which saved a lot of time. The lead was calm and knew when to slow the group down.
Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.
10 days of proper riding. The support vehicle was never far when someone needed it. Rooms were comfortable and the locations meant we could walk most evenings. The team read the group well and adjusted without making a thing of it.

Kazbegi on two wheels is the way to see it. No complaints about the organisation. Accommodation was a notch better than the price suggested. Meals were good throughout and the vegetarian options weren't an afterthought. Would send friends their way.
