BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Distances are short, the standing is long
Two or three hours mostly on your feet on hard ground. Comfortable shoes matter more than fitness.
The route is public space
Markets, lanes and places of worship are where people live and pray. Ask before photographing anyone and cover up where others do.
Cash for the small things
Tea, a fritter, an entry ticket. Card acceptance in old quarters is patchy at best.
Ask what the group size will be
A walking tour of six and one of thirty are different products at the same price. It is a fair question.

About Pumice & Pine

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Hotels were clean and central, which saved a lot of time. Meals were good throughout and the vegetarian options weren't an afterthought. Would book with them again.

Well paced over 8 days with enough free time to not feel herded. The team read the group well and adjusted without making a thing of it. Would send friends their way.

Appreciate the honest feedback; we're looking at the pacing on that section.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. Accommodation was a notch better than the price suggested. The team read the group well and adjusted without making a thing of it. No hesitation recommending them.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. Guides answered every question, including the daft ones. Good value for what's included.

Questions people ask

Because the money goes to the family rather than a state chain, and in the Oriente the state hotels are thin on the ground anyway. Expect a private room in someone's house, breakfast cooked to order, and no lift.
