BEFORE YOU GO · CAUTIONARY DETAILS
Distances are short, the standing is long
Two or three hours mostly on your feet on hard ground. Comfortable shoes matter more than fitness.
The route is public space
Markets, lanes and places of worship are where people live and pray. Ask before photographing anyone and cover up where others do.
Cash for the small things
Tea, a fritter, an entry ticket. Card acceptance in old quarters is patchy at best.
Ask what the group size will be
A walking tour of six and one of thirty are different products at the same price. It is a fair question.

Maharashtra done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. No hesitation recommending them.

Good mix of the obvious things and a few places we'd never have found. The team read the group well and adjusted without making a thing of it. No hesitation recommending them.

Everything was arranged properly — transfers, entries, all of it. No complaints about any of the hotels — all of them well placed. The cooking was a genuine surprise — better than most places we'd have picked ourselves. Worth every rupee.

Too much time on the coach and not enough at the places we'd come for. Crew were professional without being stiff about it.

Well paced over 4 days with enough free time to not feel herded. Rooms were comfortable and the locations meant we could walk most evenings. Guides answered every question, including the daft ones. Would send friends their way.

Maharashtra done well. The itinerary had room to breathe. Rooms were comfortable and the locations meant we could walk most evenings. Whoever planned the days knew what they were doing. Would book with them again.

Questions people ask

Different things. Ellora is architecture — Kailasa is the single most astonishing structure in India. Ajanta is painting, and much of it is faint and viewed in low light. Most people find Ellora more immediately impressive and Ajanta more affecting.
